11.1.2 Spare parts
To facilitate quick repair of the system with minimum downtime, Clear-Com recommends
keeping the following spare system components in good working condition at all times:
One CPU card.
One CPU interface card.
One Euro Cassette power supply module of the type fitted to the matrix.
One of each type of intercom panel in the system.
One of each type of interface in the system.
11.2 Fail-Safe modes
High reliability is one of the main objectives of the Eclipse HX-Median system design. The
following features of the system minimize the effects of a component failure.
11.2.1 Dual power supplies
The Eclipse HX-Median matrix includes two Euro Cassette power supply units. One power
supply unit can power an entire matrix; the second unit provides a backup in case of an
equipment failure.
In addition, the two supplies have separate IEC connectors to AC mains power, and are
designed for completely automatic and transparent changeover between supplies in the
event of a power failure on one of the AC branches.
To reduce the risk of electric shock, plug each of the power cords to
separate branch circuits with different service ground.
The power supplies contain an over-temperature sensor that is connected to both an audible
alarm and a warning light, giving the system operator the necessary forewarning to diagnose
and correct any power anomalies while the system remains operational.
If any individual power supply fails, an alarm can be issued to a remote location to alert
operators that part of a power supply has failed. The failure of a single supply will issue an
alarm, but the Eclipse HX-Median system will continue to operate normally, powered by the
second supply.
